*** June 28 and 29, 1999 ***
The Theatre Centre's Third Annual Mini-Conference features two full
days devoted to the mysterious art of dramaturgy.
A vital element of the creation of any piece of theatre is the process
designed to develop the work. That design is one of
the dramaturg's many responsibilites. Guest speakers will discuss
specific projects by addressing in detail the process
they used to develop the play.
Improving the design process of play development programs and empowering
artists to have greater confidence in designing
their own development path are our goals. This conference will take
the form of an extended conversation about dramaturgy
and we'd like you to join us.
Participants include:
* Peter Hinton (Playwrights Workshop Montreal)
* Jillian Keiley (director, NFLD.)
* Don Kugler (dramaturg/director, Vancouver)

New Writer In Residence:
In the fall semester of 1999 Memorial University of Newfoundland will
host Guillermo Verdecchia, the first
playright and screenwriter to occupy the position of writer-in-residence,
a position jointly supported by the Faculty of Arts and the Canada Council.
We are very fortunate to have such a talented writer joining us for the
semester and we are all looking forward to introducing him to the Island.
