The trickster thrives in a radically contingent space-time (chronotope) that impinges on conventional practices of gender, youth, aging, authority. This figure performs a carnival-logic/erotic that upsets received notions of identity and power. The apparent exile of the trickster is merely protective camouflage that sustains a space-time within which a variety of practices (e.g. culture jamming, cross dressing, the Joker in Theater of the Oppressed) create a reality that is rebellious, resistant, anarchic, compassionate and playfully confident. I will explore this camouflage and the pedagogy and political practice it disguises through discussion of my work as a popular educator and storyteller. 05/25: 0900
