juin). Au théâtre, tout espace, tout corps qui existe visuellement baigne dans une lumière. Elle donne vie à l’espace, le meuble et le métamorphose en modulant corps et objets. Elle anime le spectacle au rythme de ses changements et emporte le sujet dans une fluidité perceptive. La configuration de la lumière fait apparaître des univers sémiotiques en lien avec les dispositifs perceptifs du sujet. Je propose d’aborder cette dualité par le biais de la texture lumineuse. Par cela, j’entends le portrait changeant des modalités de lumière que ce soit dans le texte ou bien dans la texture matérielle de la mise en scène. Il s’agit d’explorer les textes où : a) l’intensité relative de la lumière apparaît comme prétexte à la dimension émotive du sujet; b) la lumière s’articule à travers l’ombre, celle-ci étant comprise comme figure poétique du sujet en voie de disparition ou bien d’émergence; c) la noirceur, configuration permettant de voiler et de dévoiler, sert de terrain potentiel relié à l’opacité sensorielle du sujet. Research during the Congress for
the Humanities and Social Sciences in Winnipeg, Manitoba (from 29 May
to 6 June). In theatre, all space and all bodies possessed of visual existence are bathed in light. Light gives life to space, fleshes it out, alters it and models bodies and objects. Lighting animates the performance to the rhythm of its own spectacle and inscribes the subject within a world of perceptive fluidity. Lighting configurations give rise to semiotic worlds intimately liked to the perceptive capacities of the subject. I propose a study of these configurations through the notion of lighting texture in contemporary theatre. Texture, both in the sense of text, that is the literary construction of light, and in the material texture of the performance, provides an operative notion for the study of stage lighting. I hope to be able to explore texts where a) the relative intensity of the light operates as a pretext to the emotional dimension of the characters; b) light is articulated through shadow, this understood to be a poetic figure of the disappearing or emerging subject and c) darkness, this configuration which allows things to be hidden or revealed and which serves as a potential marker for the sensorial opacity of the subject.
